Institution Building

The Diya Foundation, a prominent organization focused on fostering sustainable development in local communities, has implemented a strategic approach that places women at the forefront of its efforts. With a vision to promote women’s emancipation, Diya Foundation has achieved remarkable success by supporting and promoting 85 women’s self-help groups. These groups have been transformed into village organizations and connected to the Assam State Rural Livelihood Mission (ASRLM). Additionally, Diya Foundation has facilitated the establishment of two Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs), namely Rangsang Agro Producer Company Limited and Mapakkai Agro Producer Company Limited, which are owned and operated by women farmers. These initiatives have not only empowered women but have also contributed to the socio-economic development of the Kamrup Rural District in Assam and Ri-Bhoi in Meghalaya.

Women's Self-Help Groups and Village Organizations:

Diya Foundation’s approach centers around empowering women through self-help groups. By supporting and promoting 85 such groups in Assam’s Kamrup Rural District and Meghalaya’s Ri-Bhoi, the foundation has played a pivotal role in enabling the socio-economic upliftment of women in these regions. These groups have been transformed into village organizations, providing a platform for women to actively participate in decision-making processes and drive community development initiatives. By connecting these organizations with the Assam State Rural Livelihood Mission, Diya Foundation has further enhanced their access to resources, training, and opportunities, thus ensuring their sustained growth.

Rangsang Agro Producer Company Limited:

Rangsang Agro Producer Company Limited, with 641 shareholders, has emerged as a dynamic entity in the agricultural sector. Specializing in horticulture and spices, such as black pepper, turmeric, and ginger, Rangsang FPO has not only enabled women farmers to achieve economic self-sufficiency but has also contributed to the local economy through the production and sale of high-quality agricultural products. The FPO’s commitment to sustainable farming practices further underscores Diya Foundation’s dedication to environmentally conscious and responsible initiatives.

Mapakkai Agro Producer Company Limited:

Mapakkai Agro Producer Company Limited, with 450 shareholders, has made significant strides in the sericulture value chain. By empowering women engaged in sericulture activities, the FPO has helped them enhance their skills, access better markets, and obtain fair prices for their products. This initiative has not only transformed the lives of women involved in sericulture but has also catalyzed rural economic growth in the region.
